ioko, a specialist in digital and on-demand media, has extended its agreement with Telehouse Europe, the leading provider of premium purpose-built colocation facilities, with a further three year contract, extending its solid ten year relationship. The expansion is set to accommodate all applications required for a rapidly changing digital media landscape where broadcasting, communication and information technologies are converging.

The advent of Web 2.0 and the upcoming promises surrounding Web 3.0 and next generation internet sites have generated consumer and business interest in new web based media technologies such as streamed video, online advertising and online gaming. With businesses evolving to accommodate these developments, the demand for bespoke digital media delivery platforms and hosting facilities increases exponentially. Recent wins and expanding infrastructure requests from existing customers had resulted in ioko nearing hosting capacity, which in turn prompted the company to review and extend its relationship with Telehouse Europe.

“We are pleased to be extending our ten year partnership with Telehouse,”

says Mark Christie, co-founder and director of ioko. Our customers trust and rely on us to provide world-class infrastructure and managed services and in turn, we need a colocation partner which shares our commitment to service. Following our success in the UK we are now expanding internationally and as such, we will be relying on Telehouse to provide hosting capabilities for our new, as well as existing, customers.

Other key factors that influenced ioko’s expansion with Telehouse were the company’s high specification facilities, its proven track record and the excellent connectivity to both UK and overseas organisations.

“ioko has been with Telehouse since 1997 and their recent expansion reflects the confidence they have in us. We have over 18 years experience in the colocation market and building strong long term relationships with our customers is a priority for us.”

said Michelle Reid, UK sales director of Telehouse Europe. “In addition to regularly upgrading our infrastructure and services, we also host many of ioko’s core media and blue chip customers. This positions us as the most suitable partner to guarantee that ioko’s future expansion requirements are easily accommodated.”

Migration to the brand new data centre suite will give ioko’s existing customer base an upgraded set-up, with new power and cooling systems, fire suppression systems and 65 real time monitoring points controlled by Telehouse’s Building Management System. The suite is equipped with a cooling resilience of 2(N+1) and 600kW of total redundant power that provides dual feeds to each rack.
