Senior Compliance Manager (CDM)
JOB OVERVIEW
Help Telehouse promote the health, safety and welfare through ensuring compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM), Building Safety Act (BSA), Building Regulations, and the Occupier’s Liability Act (OLA). Support the business to define, implement, and continuously improve proportionate, effective approaches to fulfilling its duties as a building owner, facilities manager, contract manager, and data centre designer, inspector, and operator across all relevant and in-scope projects.
Main Duties, including but not limited to:
- Ensure the development, implementation and continuous improvement of policies that enable CDM/BSA/OLA compliance
- Work with owners to identify and enhance the effectiveness of policies that have a material impact on CDM/BSA/OLA compliance
- Establish the strategic CDM/BSA/OLA framework to drive continuous improvement across all relevant areas (e.g. roles & responsibilities, policy, process & controls and data)
- Ensure a commensurate approach that supports ongoing business operations and growth
- Maintain currency in line with any changes to legislation or emerging best practices
- Consult stakeholders to develop, establish and continuously improve best-fit controls and their ownership, in line with lean process principles that regulate all relevant activities in compliance with CDM/BSA/OLA, leveraging applications to protect information confidentiality, integrity, availability & sovereignty
- Ensure changes requiring significant CAPEX or OPEX spend are appropriately approved, planned for and managed
- Provide ongoing assurance (e.g. checking, reviewing, audit) and associated support to colleagues on CDM/BSA/OLA compliance
- Ensure all relevant stakeholders & decision makers receive appropriate training and retain competency through managing and maintaining the appropriate training
- Support the business in maintaining certification to the ISO standards relevant to CDM/BSA/OLA policy, process & control
- Effectively manage external providers/vendors contracted to support the delivery of this role
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field
- Extensive experience in environmental management In a critical infrastructure environment
- Strong knowledge of UK and EU environmental legislation
- Experience with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and environmental management systems
- Familiarity with carbon accounting methodologies and reporting standards (e.g. GHG Protocol, SECR, TCFD)
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
