Hiroshi Kobayashi appointed as new MD of Telehouse and KDDI Europe

9th May 2012 - London, UK - Telehouse, a leading provider of global data centres & managed ICT services and subsidiary of KDDI, has announced the appointment of Hiroshi Kobayashi as the new Managing Director of its European Division. Kobayashi-san succeeds Tokuji Mitsui and will be based in London, the European headquarters.  

With a background in data communication engineering and sales, Kobayashi-san was Head of Operations at KDDI Corporation in Japan. During his time in this role he dealt with a variety of career-defining challenges including the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami disaster, making every effort to recover KDDI’s mobile and fixed networks to minimise the effects to its 37 million users in Japan.

Under his new role Mr Kobayashi will carry on overseeing Telehouse’s EMEA expansion and development. In the past couple of years Telehouse has expanded its facilities in London and Paris and set up new facilities in South Africa, Istanbul and in January 2012 acquired Databurg, one of Germany’s largest colocation sites based in central Frankfurt.   

On the 26th April, Telehouse held the opening ceremony for its Frankfurt data centre celebrating in a collaboration of German and Japanese culture. Addressing the senior executives of its German customers along with board members Peter Werner, Norbert Zeissler, Takashi Sugiyama, Mr Kobayashi declared significant investment into the infrastructure of Telehouse Deutschland enabling the provision of further managed services, cloud infrastructure and system integration solutions. 

“I have a vision for Telehouse Europe, which is to greatly expand the business in both horizontal and vertical directions. This will be done by expanding existing and new sites, providing more value-added services and diversifying our portfolio with CDN capabilities and cloud services. My goal is to make Telehouse Europe the number one for total customer satisfaction, and I am pleased to lead the Telehouse business in what is proving to be an exciting period in the industry.”
