Telehouse next generation data centre in Paris

Dec 7, 2005

New €10m Paris data centre opened

Telehouse Europe, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of secure data centre and connectivity facilities, has continued its strong European growth with the opening of a new 2,000m2 data centre in Paris.

Located on the 3rd floor of its rue de Voltaire building, the new 10m Euro centre is the latest in a series of investments since the opening of Telehouse’s second Paris site in 2001. Telehouse Paris’ facilities now provide 7,000m2 of secure colocation space, to companies including the main French Internet Exchange PariX and SfinX.

The new facilities are targeted at organisations that require a high availability of business-critical applications, such as those based on internet transactions and communications, internet points of presence and call centres. Customers range from ISPs, banks and car manufacturers to business services companies, government bodies, retailers and media companies.

The space is one of the most innovative in Europe, with high power availability, multiple redundancy capabilities and security levels as well as outstanding reliability. Telehouse Paris is committed to a 99.999% service level agreement (SLA).

Peter Morgan-Hare, business development director, Telehouse Europe, said:

“The new facilities support a key strategic move for us. There is a growing number of large to medium sized French corporates looking to outsource their data needs. Business is beginning to recognise the added value of reduced administration, direct internet connectivity and access to major carriers.

“There’s a lot of opportunity in this market. It’s a trend which is very much in its ascendance.”

The power consumption of the Voltaire site is equivalent to that needed to supply a town of 35,000 people. The data centre is highly equipped and secured in order to meet client needs and guarantee uninterrupted service. The centre has dual power supplies from two power stations to ensure resilience in the event of a disaster.

Alongside physical elements additional levels of redundancy have been built into the site, from operational redundancy (all carriers are present at Telehouse as well as the main French Internet Exchange PariX and SfinX) to geographical redundancy (the second data centre located in Jeuneurs can assist to share the load with the Voltaire centre).
