Samsung Networks Selects Telehouse Europe to improve global connectivity

Jan 11, 2006

Over one hundred Samsung customers to benefit from improved private network connections

Samsung Networks has today announced that it has contracted Telehouse Europe, a leading supplier of secure collocation and data centre facilities, to be one of the aggregation points of its global network infrastructure. Samsung’s presence at Telehouse’s Docklands facility will enable Samsung to improve the private and public network connections for more than a hundred customers it has in the region with its own datacentre in Greater London.

Samsung Networks is using Telehouse to deliver improved service options by offering a greater choice of carriers with which to interconnect. Previously the limited choice of carriers available to link customers directly with its datacentre meant Samsung Networks had to liaise with the providers individually, which was administratively intensive. With reduced administration, the availability of direct connections, without the need for local loops, and improved carrier choice, more service options can be offered to customers which were not feasible before.

Hong-Kyoon Chun, chief technology officer, Samsung Networks commented: “By using Telehouse as an aggregation point, Samsung Networks can streamline operations and remain competitive in this market, which is becoming increasingly crowded. We can also look to develop new offerings that take advantage of the peering choices and resilience offered by Telehouse.”

Samsung Networks has taken space in Telehouse’s East Building and in its North building to provide additional resilience. This dual-presence will ensure maximum uptime, by providing an uninterrupted service, with both buildings supported by Telehouse’s own fully resilient infrastructure.

“Our Docklands site is used by five out of the seven of the UK’s largest internet exchanges and we provide access to all the major global carriers,” comments Phil Lydford, sales and marketing director, Telehouse Europe. “Samsung Networks has identified that huge efficiencies could be brought to the business by using Telehouse to route its global traffic, both for customers and for its own in-region offices. In this case, as with many of our other customers, the advantages of dealing with one reliable partner rather than numerous carriers are clear.”
