Telehouse Europe launches powerful new managed device monitoring solution

Aug 14, 2008

Telehouse Europe, the longest established provider of reliable and secure data centre facilities in the UK, is launching a powerful new managed device monitoring solution to help customers maximise performance and improve strategic capacity planning.

Called Systems Observer, the new web-based managed monitoring service is based on award-winning fault and performance monitoring solutions from SolarWinds, a market leader in downloadable network management software.

Systems Observer offers Telehouse Europe customers the ability to monitor not only device response time and packet loss, but a raft of other useful statistics such as CPU and memory usage, interface and volume utilisation and application availability.

In addition, the advanced alerting in Systems Observer allows notifications to be sent for just about any piece of information the system gathers. For example, customers can be alerted by SMS message or e-mail when a server has a problem. Or if the IOS version on a Cisco switch is changed. Customers can choose exactly what they need to be notified about and how they would like to be notified.

Systems Observer provides server monitoring, device monitoring and application monitoring to generate reports and graphs through a comprehensive dashboard that reveals the up-to-the-minute status of all devices. It also generates historical trending information to make strategic capacity planning easier.

Systems Observer requires no proprietary software installation and uses industry standard protocols including ICMP and SNMP (Simple Network Monitoring Protocol) which are usually embedded in most common operating systems and IOSs. Application monitoring can be achieved through the inclusion of WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation). Systems Observer already supports thousands of vendors and operating systems including: Cisco, Foundry, Extreme, Motorola, Linux, Solaris, Mac OSX, HP-UX, AIX, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Windows XP devices.
