Co-location provider commits to transparency in the Cloud-

Telehouse, a leading provider of global data centres and managed ICT services, has joined the Cloud Industry Forum, the body established to promote trust, security and transparency within the sector. In joining Telehouse becomes the latest organisation to commit to achieving a common standard of best practice within the IT industry.

Established in 1988, Telehouse became Europe’s first purpose-built, neutral data centre provider. Headquartered in London, UK, Telehouse has since grown to become one of the largest, global data centre providers, operating a network of 41 data centres in 22 strategic locations in the EMEA, the Americas and the Asia-Pacific region.

“As a leading provider of co-location data centres, we recognise the growing importance cloud computing has in the delivery of mission-critical business ICT solutions. In joining the Cloud Industry Forum we are demonstrating our commitment to the cloud and more importantly our cloud-based customers. We very much look forward to taking an active role within the Cloud Industry Forum helping them to succeed in delivering a credible and certifiable code of practice for the cloud industry as a whole,”

stated Michelle Reid, Sales and Marketing Director, Telehouse Europe.

Andy Burton, chairman of the Cloud Industry Forum concluded:

“Telehouse is the latest in a growing number of companies active in cloud provisioning joining the Cloud Industry Forum. Such a well known and recognised brand is a welcome addition to the organisation and we are delighted that it has joined. Cloud computing is a rapidly emerging approach to shared infrastructure in which large pools of systems are linked together to provide IT services. The need for such environments is fueled by dramatic growth in connected devices, real-time data streams, virtualization and the adoption of service-oriented architectures and Web 2.0 applications, such as mashups, open collaboration, social net- working and mobile commerce. This is why the co-location providers play such a vital role in the cloud ecosystem and why they form an important part of our membership.”

About the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF)

The Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) was established in direct response to the evolving supply models for the delivery of software and IT services that has expanded well beyond the traditional on-premise method to one that now embraces hosted and/or, pay-as-you-use Cloud solutions.

CIF’s purpose is twofold: To drive a common and public level of transparency about the capability, substance and best practices of online Service Providers (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, Web hosting providers etc) through a process of self-certification to a Code of Practice. Second, this Code of Practice, and the use of the related Certification Mark on participant’s web sites, provides comfort and promotes trust to businesses and individuals wishing to leverage the commercial, financial and agile operations capabilities that the Cloud based and hosted solutions can offer. CIF is ensuring the integrity and governance of the self-certification process through regular random audits as well as investigating complaints from parties that challenge any specific participants self-certification status.

Our ambition is to bring business consumers and suppliers of Cloud and Hosted Services closer together in a trusted, sustainable and rewarding ecosystem.
