2014 is starting out as a strong year for Telehouse in the UK. Following the upgrade in the London Internet Exchange’s capacity to over 15Tbps, the peering and connectivity available to our customers has dramatically increased.

We are also pleased to announce the appointment of a new Managing Director for Telehouse Europe and upgrades to our power and cooling. As a result we are able to offer additional space in our docklands data centres (details below).

2014 will also be an exciting year for us, with several key announcements yet to take place. So, do keep an eye out for the latest edition of Telehouse News.

Appointment of a new Managing Director for Telehouse Europe

Deputy Managing Director Mr Hiroyuki Soshi will succeed Mr Hiroshi Kobayashi as Managing Director on April 1st. Mr Kobayashi will go back to Japan to have a new role in the KDDI Headquarters. Mr Soshi is ideally positioned to lead the future development of Telehouse Europe, having worked closely with Mr Kobayashi on the European expansion strategy over the past two years.

Bringing with him a wealth of management experience from KDDI headquarters, Mr Soshi has played a central role in driving KDDI Europe and Telehouse’s strategic direction and will continue to oversee this as Managing Director.

Everyone at Telehouse wishes Mr. Kobayashi the best for his new role and thanks him for his significant efforts over the past two years. Mr Soshi looks forward over time to meeting Telehouse customers at future events.

The London Internet Exchange celebrates its 20th anniversary

20 years ago, five Internet Service Providers joined their networks together through a donated piece of equipment located in Telehouse North and the rest, as they say, is history. Today the London Internet Exchange (LINX) is one of the world’s biggest Internet Exchange Points (IXP’s), with over 500 members, and 1241 connected member ports. At peak times, LINX handles over 4Tbps of traffic to over 60 member countries.

It’s continual growth has reflected the demand for the internet and this is set to grow as take up deepens, thanks to bandwidth speeds increasing, content growing and more devices being utilised. LINX now has nearly 8Tbps of connected capacity on it’s network and recent upgrades have taken total available capacity to over 15Tbps to reflect expect capacity demand to come.

Telehouse is proud to be supporting LINX to celebrate their 20th birthday and LINX will be holding celebratory activities and events throughout the year. For more information please go to the LINX website: https://www.linx.net/index.html.

Additional space released in Telehouse East, Telehouse West, and Telehouse Metro

Recent upgrades in three of Telehouse’s London data centres means that additional space is now available. In total 1,200m2 of additional space has been made available in Telehouse East, Telehouse West and Telehouse Metro (City). The release of this space is part of an on-going programme to upgrade power and cooling, and released to market as it becomes available in our London Data Centres.

If you would like to find out more or enquire about taking data centre space, please contact your account manager or e-mail: [email protected].

Launch of a new Telehouse.net website

Earlier this month, the global Telehouse Website was re-launched, aimed at delivering additional support and access to key information.

Using a responsive structure (it alternates depending on the device you are using, from iPhone’s to PC’s), it is built in line with the latest web trends and provides a clean fresh look for the Telehouse brand. The site is live for UK customers at the moment, and will be rolled out internationally to France and Germany shortly.

We look forward to updating you again soon with more developments from Telehouse. As always, we welcome feedback or any questions that you may have on the products or services you receive.

Best Regards
